Big response for the inaugural Rail Trail Cycling Challenge – be part of it

by BNI New Zealand

The BNI Otago Rail Trail Cycling Challenge is taking place over Waitangi weekend (Thursday 6th – Sunday 9th February) and we’ve already got 50 people registered for the inaugural event so it looks like it’s going to be a fantastic time for everyone involved. The Rail Trail getaway doubles as a fundraiser for the Otago Community Hospice – whose motto is ‘Living Every Moment’. Included in the registration fee is a donation to the Hospice so they can continue their very important work. We’ve had a lot of interest from BNI members who can’t make the event but want to make a contribution to the hospice, so we’ve added a donation button to the website. Just visit the link below and enter the amount you would like to donate.

So more about the Otago Rail Trail Challenge … it’s a cycling adventure for all the family and for all levels of fitness. You can choose either a 2-day or 4-day cycle through the spectacular scenery of Central Otago. Riding on the rail trail you pass through incredibly beautiful scenery not seen from the highways. This includes mountain ranges, hills and gorges, the vast Maniototo plain and old gold mining towns – and it ends in the fruit growing heart of Central Otago. The heritage of the old railway line has been preserved, with the retention of viaducts and bridges, and some of the old railway stations.

We’ve had so much interest that we are considering making the Cycling Challenge an annual event! Please help us spread the word about the Challenge so we can keep those contributions flowing in and help Otago Hospice continue to offer palliative care for people with life limiting illnesses. All systems are go for this exciting event taking place this Waitangi weekend.
