BNI opens chapter up in Hobbiton

by Colin Kennedy

BNI New Zealand recently welcomed on board a new chapter in Hobbiton – previously known as Matamata in the Waikato!

President of the brand new BNI Matamata Chapter, Anna Bennett (CooperAitken Accountants), says the chapter has 16 members and is keen to recruit from the health and trades categories, such as a dentist, builder and gym owner.

“We have a great friendly vibe with lots of positive and supportive members in our new chapter.

“We owe our start-up to our BNI regional director Mike Tennant was the driving force behind the chapter because he believed that Matamata was similar to other regional towns, where it works really well.

“The initial team that got the group going was Anna Mollekin (Alm Creative), Adam Thompson (My Mortgage) and Andrew Aarts (Electrico),” says Anna, who was attracted by the opportunity to meet regularly with like minded people who are there to generate business for each other

Anna says she believes the particular strength of BNI Matamata is that it was able to charter very early. Members joined quickly, which demonstrates the chapter’s enthusiasm and dedication.

“We all want to shop locally and promote the skills and professions within our town. BNI enables us to make local business connections stronger – it means keeping business within Matamata in many cases,” says Anna.

BNI Matamata meets in the Redoubt 8am every Thursday and is looking forward to growing as a chapter. If you know anybody in the area who would benefit from being part of a BNI chapter, encourage them to call BNI Support on 09 8171185 for more information. Local contact is Adam Thompson 021 855 854.
