Shore City visitor day was buzzing — $3,821 to Christchurch earthquake appeal

by Brian Noble

When the Shore City Chapter set a goal to have a dynamic visitor day they really made it happen. Visitors were singing the praises of BNI on 1st March when Shore City a chapter of 25 members with 3 applications in the pipeline had 16 guests to their visitor day. Visitor days happen all over the country on a regular basis but this one stood out and the difference was that the chapter had planned and focused on bringing qualified guests and it really showed. From past BNI member to people totally new to BNI there was a resounding “I want to be part of this”, when you get a winning system like BNI and a group of committed BNI members you have a dynamic combination.

So what were the key things that this chapter did to make the visitor day a success? I would sum them up in three areas:

1.    Commitment –  they were focused on making the time a success, the leadership team promoted the day,  members were focused on bringing guests and put in the effort. There is no substitute for commitment and dedication.
2.    Communication –  the leadership team kept communicating about the visitor day and the members did the work in inviting guests and checking that they were going to be there on the day.
3.    Caring about the guests is vital to grow membership and the chapter made everyone feel very welcome, guests were introduced to members who showed a genuine interest in them and their business. The open networking times had a buzz and excitement about them.

In a demonstration of how the chapter applies the “Givers Gain” principle a container was passed around to collect for the Christchurch Earthquake appeal resulting in a huge collection of $3,821.

Well done Shore City chapter in making the visitor day a booming success.

Well done, Shore City Chapter! You set a high bar for the rest of the BNI chapters in global BNI. Our prayers are with you all in New Zealand – but this post is inspiring me to think of ways in which we might do more.
