Our business recently achieved massive success at the Otago Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. Held in November, the award we received was in part due to our commitment to BNI in the south. Two people in our business are members of different BNI chapters in the Dunedin area. Andrea Elliott who is our Head Property Manager and the Managing Director, is a member of BNI Octagon and I’m part of BNI Aspire. Our business Click Property Management won the Vodafone Service Award at the Excellence Awards this year.
Click Property Management is a locally owned and operated independent property management company based in Dunedin, offering a unique and cost effective residential property management service. We solely manage residential properties; providing professional property management services for landlords in the Dunedin area. Founded in 2010 by Andrew and Andrea, who are both experienced property investors, Click has grown to a family owned and operated company based in our own commercial building, comprising of three family directors and employing five staff.
As Business Development Manager/ Director for Click Property Management Ltd I believe BNI has been a key tool in developing my own confidence and the business more generally. When I first started doing the 60 second pitch at weekly BNI meetings I found it very challenging and actually quite daunting. I was 21 when I first started at BNI (in 2012) and the thought of standing up in front of a room of strangers and talking about my business was hugely intimidating. Thankfully over time this changed as I became more confident and at home in a room of other businesspeople that I looked up to.
I became President of my chapter (last year) and developed my abilities as a leader in my chapter. One of the great strengths of belonging to BNI is that a number of members from our chapters are part of the Chamber of Commerce as well as BNI. This means BNI is a great way to meet and network with top businesspeople from the Dunedin community. In Dunedin it really is all about who you know and it is through BNI that we have been able to create such great business relationships with other businesspeople in the south.
Winning the Vodafone Service Award at the Otago Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards this year is a huge vote of confidence in what our business is doing. A big part of our success is due to BNI and I highly recommend other businesses join a chapter in their region so they can benefit from the word of mouth networking our organisation specialises in. With this award behind us our whole team is excited for what is to come in 2017.
