Mary Potter Hospice

by BNI New Zealand

I thought that you might be interested to read this letter from Mary Potter Hospice in Wellington.  Sue & I visited West Auckland Hospice yesterday as part of a supporters mid morning tea.  We were particularly struck with the information that West Auckland Hospice has about 180 people on their books at any one time – people who are receiving palliative care free of charge as they go through the last stage of their lives.  It made me realise just how important our relationship is with Hospice and how much difference they make for the lives of so many.

Hopefully I will be seeing some of you down in Rotorua on Friday for our inaugural BNI NZ Hospice Golf Day.

Thank you for continuing your invaluable support for hospices throughout New Zealand by choosing to make an extra special donation from your annual giving account for hospice, sharing your celebration of BNI’s 10th Birthday.

All at Mary Potter Hospice are delighted by BNI’s ongoing support of the wonderful care and professional dedication shown by so many hospices in this country.  Your contributions, not only at a national level, but from your local chapters in the Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti communities, help us greatly in providing hospice care free of charge for the many people, and their families and friends, who need us.

As the need for our services increases, so too does the cost of providing them.  We are heartened to know that we can rely on your kindness and understanding to ensure that everyone who needs our palliative care will receive it at no cost to them.

Thank you again for your continued commitment to Hospice – your donations and national involvement truly make a difference.

Your sincerely,

Rai Earp

Congratulations Graham and all BNI members for supporting such a important and often overlooked area of our community. Just recently my brother in law passed away to cancer (1/10/09), Hospice were there is so many ways for not only my sister but our whole family in a time of need.
These caregivers are truely 100% committed to helping and caring when its most needed.
I”m proud to be a part of a team that donates to this amazing organisation.

Thanks Lisa – and congratulations to you also for running such a great BNI meeting today! One thing that I forgot to mention in my presentation is that it is my intention to start to work for half a day a week at Hospice as a volunteer, starting next year.
All the best,

g
