Cambridge Chapter raising the bar

by Colin Kennedy

The BNI Cambridge Chapter is a good example of what can happen when exceptional individuals work together.

And as a team, the Cambridge Chapter is formidable

Not content with merely focusing on their own businesses, there is a real sense of camaraderie and support amongst members of the Cambridge Chapter.

When Nikki and Andy Anderson purchased Cambridge Fine Wines and filled the shelves with fabulous wines, budget restraints meant they were stuck with dated décor. That was until Margaret Verkroost from Red Red Red Interiors had a vision and sold it to the Cambridge BNI members.

Brian Homewood from Homewood Kitchens donated time and materials to create a stylish front counter and to reframe the existing shelving.

One Friday evening the rest of the group started renovating – digging up flooring, and cleaning, sanding and painting ceilings, shelves and walls. By Sunday evening, bottles were returned to the shelves, donated furnishings were in place and the shop looked stunning.

It was exhausting, but the best team builder ever!

Cambridge Chapter living  proof that referrals work

During the tough financial year, one member in particular was struggling. In his absence – but with his approval – we discussed his situation.

At the next meeting we were able to pass on about 11 good referrals. Some meant immediate cash for him and got him through his crisis. Other leads were ongoing, but the fact that everyone was supporting him lifted his spirits and his company is now completely back on track.

“We may be an unorthodox BNI chapter, but the group is strong and vibrant and good things happen, often!” says Sandra Webb from the Cambridge Chapter.

High achievers in their own right

Several members of the chapter were recipients of awards during 2010:
