On seeing the ‘shaveforacure’ advert on TV, he was immediately inspired to participate. After some research, he signed up and set about raising money.

The day of reckoning was set for the 8th of April at 1pm, when Mat arrived at a friend’s barber shop to get put his money where his mouth was.

Mat credits his generous friends and work colleagues with helping him to raise over $500, a target he had initially set for himself.

A highlight for Mat was the laughter around the event. In fact he enjoyed having his head shaved so much that he says: “I would definitely do it again. It’s such a simple and enjoyable way to raise money.”

As a packaging designer, Mat runs THINK Packaging and has 10 years’ experience in creating fresh and innovative designs for packaging.

His work history and credibility has been made up from working and developing creations for Cadbury, Nestle, Harrods, Gillette, L’Oreal and many more.

Mat sees himself as a genuine cardboard structural engineer, that doesn’t just tap dimensions into a ready made template. He says: “I custom design, shape and fit products into their new home and work alongside graphic designers to complete the project in all its glory.”

What is Mat’s business and life philosophy? “To continue to change the way that packaging is viewed and keep a smile. I have fun everyday; it’s so easy to stay happy and positive!”
