The Meaningful Relationships in BNI Rotorua Lakes

by BNI New Zealand

“The first meeting of the New Year was held at our new home at Lake Okareka, Rotorua to showcase the jobs that so many of our BNI members had done. With the help of the leadership team we produced breakfast in the new kitchen and from the BBQ,” says Win MacMillan from NZ Travel Brokers who has been part of BNI for nearly 12 years

“In May last year we bought a rundown old very badly designed house and transformed it to a large degree with help from my BNI members,” says Win.

The stalwart was Jamie Mear from Nu Homes and Renovations who managed the rebuild and organised many of the tradesmen and his own builders to complete the job on time and within budget.   Often Jamie would offer solutions that the architect hadn’t thought of to enhance different aspects of the property, e.g. a glass window panel in upstairs hall so that the light or sun was not lost.

Jeremey Hitchens from Hitchens Decorating painstakingly filled in all the gaps in the ugly wooden ceiling and painted it to perfection along with many of the interior walls.

Lee Anne Hanson from Rotorua Heating Solutions replaced the main fire in the lounge and the flue was ginormous so it was not an easy task and a brand new Bugg BBQ was purchased.

Colin Douglas from Treeman Tree Services was early in on the scene cutting down heaps of the foliage to give us way better views and did it very stylishly.

The Chapter lawyer was Catriona Gordon from Lava Law ensured the settlement proceeded without any hitches and Brenden Townsend from Sweeney Townsend ensured all the insurance was taken care of. “We already we have a claim for damage to carpet and that is being dealt with seamlessly,” says Win.

Jamie showed the members around the house and explained the huge differences along with photos on the TV from yuck to WOW!

“One of the core values of BNI is ‘Building Meaningful Relationships’ and what a great way to start 2017 and embrace all that is BNI,”

Ray Siesicki, Regional Director Consultant.
