The value of a ten-year BNI relationship

by BNI New Zealand

A number of our colleagues recently celebrated their 10-year membership with BNI.

Read what their affiliation with BNI has meant to them and why these achievers believe the relationship has so much to offer:

  • Kerry Otto
  • Ian Waters
  • Steven Asplin
  • Dennis Peat

Kerry Otto, BNI 10 yr, Apr 2011The benefit of Kerry Otto’s ten-year relationship with BNI is two-fold – helping fellow BNI members grow their businesses through referrals, and adding value to the group through his industry knowledge.

A member of the East Auckland BNI Chapter, Kerry is the director of Ubrella Limited and has over 14 years’ experience in the insurance industry.

His field of expertise includes a wide range of insurance cover from death and disablement, to mortgage and medical cover. In addition, he offers a choice of eleven suppliers giving clients diversity and choice.

Kerry believes his honest approach coupled with an understanding of personal and business needs, gives him the edge when sharing his knowledge with clients.

Although located in Howick, part of Kerry’s service offering is meeting his clients wherever suits them best – coffee shops are a viable option too!

With a passion for providing protection and a commitment to providing choice, Kerry’s memory hook says it all: “Insurance cover you choose – protect yourself.”

IanIan Waters has enjoyed ten years of networking and interacting at weekly BNI meetings with his Manukau Chapter. He has seen a positive impact on his business, benefiting from regular referrals that have been successfully converted to extra business.

Says Ian, “Everyone at the BNI meetings have a common goal – to grow their business while helping others to do the same.”

Ian’s business,  Hewitt Scaletti Waters, is located in Manukau and specialises in all aspects of work involving chartered accountants, business developers and tax planners.

The team at Hewitt Scaletti Waters provide a prompt, reliable service, undertaking high quality work. Their friendly, yet professional style of communication gives them an understanding of their clients’ needs, resulting in workable suggestions on how they can increase the value of their business and personal lifestyles.

Although people are a strong focus, in their industry it is also important to remain updated with changes to business and tax legislation

In doing so, Ian and the team at Hewitt Scaletti Waters are well equipped to stand by their memory hook: “ Our business is taking care of your business.“

Steve, BNI 10 years, Apr 2011Steven Asplin is a strong BNI advocate, having experienced firsthand the personal and business growth that the network offers.

He is the owner of Asplin Motors in Tauranga, a business started in 1972 by his father. He has been a member of the Tauranga Chapter, which recently merged with the Bethlehem Chapter, for ten years.

Steve’s memory hook ‘If you’ve got motor trouble, call Steve on the double” alludes to the confidence that he has in his ability to provide honest, good old fashioned service.

Asplin Motors is MTA approved, and repairs all makes and models of vehicles and light diesels. The do W.O.F.s and also specialise in American and Australian inboard waterski and wakeboard boats.

Through his long association with BNI, Steve says: “I have a great network of people who I can rely on and refer others to, knowing that they are getting great service as well.”

Dennis Peat, BNI 10 yr, Apr 2011Founding member of the Manukau Chapter ten years ago, Dennis Peat now attends weekly meetings at the Remuera Chapter.

As owner of Goldline Construction, located in Howick, he specialises in new residential building projects and large alterations throughout Auckland.

Dennis’ long-standing commitment to BNI has been motivated by both his personal experience of the network, as well as the impact it has made on his construction business.

“For me, belonging to BNI is about making a commitment to a group for a substantial period of time. It’s a forum where I go to build strong relationships and share experiences.

“I get to enjoy the company of like-minded people who are helping me grow my business while I do the same for them,” says Dennis.

With a strong focus on personal service and the benefit of 33 years of building experience, “Nailing home your dreams” is a memory hook that Dennis knows he can stand by.
