BNI Core Value – Lifelong Learning
This week we are continuing to promote the BNI core value of Lifelong Learning. When you learn more you earn more and the more that we learn about how to network, build relationships and refer more, the more value we can receive from our BNI membership.
Learn More to Earn More
It’s a proven fact that on average the more qualified a person is, the more they earn. There are obvious exceptions but those people are committed to growth and learning through nontraditional methods.
Why do we need to learn more about networking?
- Very few people get education about networking from anywhere but BNI.
- Not much, if anything is taught at school or tertiary institutes about the value or the how of networking as a marketing strategy.
When members join BNI they will gain a level of knowledge just by being in the room each week and most members think this is enough to make the most of their membership. But is it enough?
An analogy is, if you get enough haircuts, does that qualify you to be a hairdresser?
Of course not, you could probably remove hair from people’s heads but no one would likely be happy with the result. And very quickly your income would be average at best and probably nil at worst. One of the issues stopping members from thinking that they should learn more is that they are getting a decent return from BNI already, so why go to the extra effort to learn more?
There are 3 reasons:
1. They could attain a greater return on their investment.
2. More importantly, they could give more to others making the whole chapter stronger.
3.Being more knowledgeable and therefore more helpful enhances your own credibility.
Are you in the top ten for your profession or business?
If anyone in the room was in the top ten worldwide for their profession or business how successful would they be? …….. The answer of course is very successful. How did those people become that successful? ……… It wasn’t luck but generally it was by the extraordinary application of an ordinary skill. They didn’t stay doing the same thing as the world went by. They learnt and applied what they learnt. And they keep learning and practising.

So the challenge this week is to help yourself and your fellow members get more by using BNI University – You can even access it using NET (No Extra Time) while driving, working out or walking.
