Embracing “The Now”

by BNI New Zealand

There is much talk at the moment of the need to live in the present – to ‘embrace the now’ – but what does this mean in practice?  We are told that the past is the past and the future will take care of itself and that if we want to make the most of our opportunities we need to be present.  This of course is easier said than done – although the nonsense of not doing so was captured beautifully by Lewis Caroll with the words “Jam yesterday, Jam tomorrow but never jam today….”

The person who is probably the most popular current writer on this topic, with best selling books such as ‘The Power of Now’ and ‘A New Earth’ –  is Eckhart Tolle and I have just come across a fascinating video of Eckhart explaining what it means to be in the present. If you have a few minutes to spare I would encourage you to watch it to the end.  Of course – you may be too busy doing…   :-)
