BNI Chapter Sheets

by Graham Greenhorn

For chapters not yet using a Chapter Sheet

1. Who makes notes and writes down specific referral requests during the meeting?

2. Can you remember every specific referral request that your fellow members made?

3. How good is your weekly presentation (60 second presentation); is your request sufficiently specific and sharp to be written down by the other members of the chapter?

For chapters already using a Chapter Sheet:

  1. Are you using your chapter sheet every week?
  2. Do you remember to take your sheet with you at the end of each meeting?
  3. Are there any improvements that could be made?

It is often difficult to remember every specific referral request, especially in larger chapters! Something written down will aid later recall. Writing notes and then TAKING those notes away with you will be a huge step in remembering who wants what!

A Chapter Sheet can make it easier to do this, it is an aid to help you find ways to promote and refer your fellow members.

What should a Chapter Sheet include?

  • The Agenda – There is an abridged version of the agenda to indicate to visitors we are serious about business and not some casual “Coffee Club”.
  • Your Vision Statement – The Vision Statement is there to remind us why we are here, and why we are such a great chapter.
  • Your Chapter Goals – The chapter goals set by the leadership team are included. These also show how we are tracking, and what we need to concentrate on to do better.
  • The Leadership Team – The leadership team, who, as members you should be aware of, is listed, again to assist visitors.
  • Chapter Top Performers – We give recognition to our “Top Performers” which is one of BNI’s core values.
  • Upcoming Speakers – Upcoming speakers are listed, so you know when your turn is coming up. Be prepared!
  • Today’s Visitors – Visitors are acknowledged. It makes them feel good and helps you to remember them.
  • Member Details – Include member name, their business name and their contact phone number.
  • A space to record specific referral requests – You can write their IDEAL REFERRAL that was requested – remembering that Specific is Terrific.

Challenge:

For chapters already using chapter sheets – Focus on using these as they are intended, see if you can write notes for each member as they speak and take them away to refer to during the week.

For chapters that don’t yet have a chapter sheet – Why not start using a chapter sheet now or at the start of next term?
