This week 2015 TCAC Emerging Artist Award recipient Rebecca Annan opened her latest exhibition with help from a $500 BNI NZ Arts Grant. The grant was awarded to Rebecca as part of her prize for winning the 2015 TCAC Emerging Artist Awards held last month. This award is another example of BNI’s core philosophy of Givers Gain – giving back to the community and building strong relationships.
Rebecca graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Elam School of Fine Arts in 2008 and is an artist primarily working in the discipline of painting. Works in her exhibition draw on her background in sculpture and focus on the theme of desire for prosperity. Works include flower imagery symbolising hope and prosperity as well as paintings using gold.
This is Rebecca’s first exhibition since receiving the grant and she’s enormously thankful for it because this contribution assisted her with framing and last minute material and exhibition costs. She knew exactly what she wanted to fund with it and her exhibition is the stronger for this contribution from BNI.
Come down and see Rebecca’s exhibition in Newmarket this week. It runs for just 6 days and it would be fantastic to have BNI members visit to see where our contribution has gone.
