“First Places!” “Rolling.” “And Action!” “Cut!”
It’s been an action packed two days for BNI New Zealand as shooting for the long awaited promotional video got underway, firstly at Studio Lumiere (Auckland) and then at the Mecca Café in Newmarket where the fantastic BNI Parnell Chapter meets
Most BNI members will remember BNI New Zealand first asked for members with great stories almost a year ago. Since then it’s been a year of story selection, script writing (and more script writing) and finally all the planning and co-ordination that went into these two days of shooting.
BNI New Zealand made extensive use of BNI members to complete the shoot, including using award winning filmmakers Solid Rock Media (members in Howick and Christchurch) and Studio Lumiere.
The film crew were from Christchurch and Auckland, while our talent came from BNI members around the country with stories to tell – including Bill Vonder (Wellington), Ollie Dale (Auckland), Michael Smyth (Auckland), Kraig Winters (Christchurch) and Helen Horrocks (Bay Of Islands).
Studio Lumiere is an events heaven and the venue they provided was spectacular for the interviews and storytelling takes.
Mecca Café in Newmarket and BNI Parnell graciously opened their meeting to the film crew, actors and other hangers-on and the chapter performed so very well as usual – in fact, most visitors with the filming said they would be back to visit the chapter at another time because they enjoyed the welcome so much.
BNI Parnell only got to present their 60 seconds and referrals session and were repeatedly interrupted with calls of “Action,” “Cut” and “Can you do that again!”.
BNI New Zealand would like to extend a personal thanks to everybody involved, including BNI Parnell, our great BNI actors, script writer and bestselling novelist Brian Falkner, Nick Hitchins (Producer/Director) and his team, Studio Lumiere, Mecca Café, Fiona Harrop for taking care of the details, 24 Thousand for creative input and everybody else who contributed.
Can’t wait for the official screening!

It really was a fantastic project to be part of. Thanks so much to all who were involved – from BNI, to the awesome Parnell chapter, to the production team and crew, and of course the other ‘talent’. It was wonderful to meet you all, and I look forward to seeing the finished video. 🙂
Oh goodness listen to me – I sound like I’m giving an Oscar accpetance speech! No really, stardom hasn’t gone to my head… lol!
Great to have you on the team and thank you for taking the time to travel to Auckland for the project.
Our Berkeley, CA BNI Chapter created a video for our meeting and it’s a great way to introduce them to some of our members and what a meeting is like prior to them attending the actual Meeting. We have posted it to YouTube and also put it on our homepage at http://www.ebar-bni.com A great tool that was also fun to make and helped us to articulate the many benefits of BNI. Thanks to Terry Lamb of Videosyncracy (http://www.vidacypix.com/) for putting this together!
Thanks Michael – great job! Just got off the telephone from talking/previewing the video with BNI CEO Norm Dominguez and hope to be able to release the video in the next few days. It would be good to get your feedback 🙂
