Being Visible and Credible means you are referable by others. So, how can you be both Visible and Credible? Being Visible means members know who you are and what you do. Being Credible means members trust you will do what you say you will do and that there is a need for what you do (the service or products you sell). Being Visible AND Credible can give you the opportunity to be PROFITABLE (VCP).
If a member isn’t Visible and Credible, they may receive the occasional referral but are unlikely to receive enough to be profitable over time. Ultimately, they will most likely leave the group thinking BNI doesn’t work, rather than they haven’t worked BNI to their advantage.
How can you become Visible?
- Showing up at the weekly meeting (the bare minimum)
- Having one to ones
- Attending BNI events
- Being on the leadership team
How can you become Credible?
- Being on time for the meeting (open networking), one to ones etc.
- Being prepared and on target with your elevator pitch
- A laser sharp specific referral request
- Being prepared and on target with your feature presentation
- Remembering to bring a door prize specific for your business
- Giving qualified referrals (at least one a week)
- Bringing visitors (at least one a month)
- Having regular, effective one to ones (at least one a week)
- Following up on referrals received
- Having a positive and supportive attitude
- Doing a great job on the leadership team
- Participating in BNI University
- Participating actively in your BNI hub
- Recording your TYFCB regularly (thanking/recognising others)
- Having a business whose services or products are in reasonable demand
How visible and credible are you?
Give yourself 1 point for each of the above activities you think you are currently achieving.
- A score of 15 or above means you are Visible and Credible and most likely very highly regarded in your group as well as profitable in BNI
- A total score of below 5 means you are just getting started. Focus on the activities above to increase your visibility and credibility allowing your fellow members to develop deeper trust in you and your business/services.
Can Visibility and Credibility be achieved more quickly?
Yes, by doing more than one effective one to one a week and by getting active in your hub.
