Do you think about your BNI?
It seems to me so many of us go through the motions.
We… turn up. Sit in the same place (or thereabouts). Greet some people; talk mostly to the same people. Think about what we’re going to say; or get inspired by what other people are saying during their 60 second.
Referral time comes around and we frantically think about what we’re going to say. Perhaps we buy some products or services.
Meeting closes. We’re gone.
Is that you? Or do you recognise some elements of your own behaviour?
A motivational writer once said ‘take a different route to work. It will change everything’. I don’t know about changing everything, but at your next meeting sit in an entirely different place and say hello to somebody you hardly ever talk to.
Why not schedule 15 minutes in your calendar each week to stop and think about your BNI? Think about your next sixty second presentation. Think about who you would like to cultivate a closer association with, and think about how you might be able to give them a referral.
That’s it. Just take time to think about your BNI (a smelling the roses’ moment). Try that for four or five weeks and then let me know how it went – I would love to hear your feedback.
