Do you want to create a racket in your business?

by Rosemary Meyer

DSC04507Business Consultant Paul Ayers took a different spin to presenting his 10 minute speech at BNI Counties Chapter last week.  When introduced, he walked away without a word and stripped off the tracksuit he had been wearing to reveal his squash attire.

“I have been presenting in a suit for half a decade and thought it was time to do something different.  10 minutes gives you the chance to show variety – as well as depth.  There are numerous comparisons between the discipline and broad approach you need to improving youself as a player and the way a business owner should work on every aspect of their game – sales, finance, operations and so on.  Both have to play to their strengths and improve your weaknesses – key to which is understanding them not just rushing headlong in to the next rally.  I hope I have set a memorable benchmark for 10 minute presentations now that we are in  our new venue Oilans Cafe,” he said.

Paul has received twenty referrals from his chapter over the years and given sixty or so for services as varied as chiropractic, landscaping, vehicle maintenance, holidays, mortgages, flowers, printing, picture framing, pest control and insurance.  A former Royal Navy officer, Paul runs the BMC, a business consultancy providing actionable support to small and medium-size businesses across Auckland and last week he certainly made quite a racket!
