A quiz night supported by BNI Octagon this week has raised $2500 for the Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust.
150 people, a large proportion of them associated with the Octagon chapter, took part in the event, organised by CEO of Adams, Mark Preston, previously the chapter president.
The MC was another chapter member, Kunal Paranjpe of Corporate Traveller, who has clearly missed his calling as a stand-up comedian.
Members of the chapter donated prizes for the evening which were raffled to raise additional funds.
Despite their strong numbers, the BNI teams were unable to snatch the main prize which was won by Balmacewen Intermediate School.
The BNI winners were Team Mediaworks (headed by CEO Cindy Davies), Team WHK and Team Konstruct.

Hi Lynnaire,
Many thanks for this report. Great to hear about the event and the money that has been raised for this charity. As a former Manakau Coastguard volunteer (and surfer at Piha) I know how important the helicopter service is and am sure that they appreciate all the support they can get. It is a sobering thought that this will probably not even cover the cost of a single rescue!
All the best,
Graham
