Press Release
From: BNI Ngaio
26 October 2010
Wellington is New Zealand’s fastest growing business networking city this year after the launch of the recent BNI Ngaio chapter, bringing the total number of chapters to 14 in the capital city region.
Business Network International New Zealand’s marketing director, Colin Kennedy, said feedback from business owners in the area was that the trust factor is important to them and structured networking helped them achieve that.
“BNI’s emphasis is on building relationships and trust with someone before you go recommending their business, and I would think that with everything SMEs have endured the last few years, trust is now a number one priority,” he said.
Wellington’s newest chapter president, Philip Reeve, says members of their chapter are the first thought and recommendation when they come across anyone looking for a particular service, because they know and trust them.
“We have a fantastic diversity of professions and many have crossover requirements where, for example, referrals passed on to the builder results in work for the plumber and painter. It’s great synergy,” he says.
BNI Ngaio – which meets every Thursday at 7am upstairs at the Bordeaux Bakery on Thorndon Quay – has 15 members and is looking for more, including an electrician, travel agent, graphic designer, chiropractor, physiotherapist, osteopath, massage therapist and computer repairs.
“We have fantastic energy from the group, and despite the fact that we are a relatively new chapter we have rapidly built trust in each other and referrals (both internal and external) are flying,” says Philip.
