Why I felt so good about the all white's performance was not so much that it was unexpected, but that it was such a great thing to do, done in such a Kiwi way. Ours is a country that has often punched well above our own weight, achieving great things with shoestring budgets. From the first flying machine, built in a shed, to Peter Jackson's first films, to those early all-blacks tours of europe. Even Team NZ lifting the Americas cup. For a team of part-timers with the lowest-paid coach to come out undefeated, against such great odds is just amazing.

Teams like France and Italy had the same burdens as the All Blacks do today, with mega-dollar budgets and teams of coaches and handlers, and their public expecting results, and savaging them for losing.

Small biz NZ is full of stories like this, and that's what I mean by Typical Kiwi Way. It is hard to succeed, with compliance, tax, costs, staff issues, and all the other knocks, yet many do, and we need to celebrate that more.

Hi Jasbindar, this post comes at an interesting time for me. Having just read 'Unique ability' by Dan Sullivan, it talks about finding your key strength, working to that strength, then having around you people whose unique ability is different to yours, thus complementing you in business. Great read!

Isn't it great to know that a small team of highly effective individuals can out perform a large team of average performers?

Oh yea, go the All Whites!

Thanks,
