Why INTEGRITY and AUTHENTICITY help you strengthen your connections and business referrals

by BNI New Zealand

Recently Declan Scott was asked to present at the BNI Wellington Big Breakfast event at Te Papa.

Declan is an entrepreneur and business owner dedicated to helping change the face and culture of business by creating a renewed sense of purpose and passion for people in the workplace.

Since moving from Ireland, he’s helped cofound a group called SHE Universe, worked with the team at the Resilience Institute in New Zealand, and founded the Spirited Business Network which works to bring greater authenticity to business.

Declan reminded BNI members about the power of business to act as a medium for good and to uplift humanity in the community. BNI members connected with his messaging about regaining power and responsibility for their lives by living up to who they truly are. He also referenced how at BNI, in our chapters we have people that inspire us and help us along our business journey.

It’s a wonderful thing to be part of business community that makes you want to be your most authentic self and act with the utmost integrity. BNI provides a space where you can do all of this.

Community

How?

  1. BNI brings more awareness, self-awareness and community awareness into the workplace. If you truly embody the values of BNI especially the idea of Givers Gain, you will not only have more business, but also grow in business and learn. It’s all about operating with integrity and creating a more meaningful existence in business as well in your personal life.
  2. Supporting people to connect with greater purpose and challenging people, leads to business growth. Business culture thrives with great leadership and supporting others. Think of it like this: If you are in business for what you get, then you make a living. If you are in business for what you can give, then you will create a life.
  3. By providing referrals to others, you will be creating strong networking relationships that will bring benefits (especially referrals) to you.

It’s important to consider your own unconscious actions in the workplace. Be responsible and never stop learning and growing – this is what makes business so interesting. BNI is a dynamic environment where we show up weekly to do this, as well as support, inspire and do valued business.
