How about using these 3 key tips to “rekindle” your passion at BNI

by BNI New Zealand

As we move towards the end of the year and our attention turns to Christmas and the New Year break; perhaps it’s easy to lose focus and feel a slight passion slump at BNI. This is especially true when it comes to giving your 60 seconds. Making an impact always comes from the energy and passion you bring to its delivery.

Why is passion important?

Maintaining passion with your networking can not only help motivate you to get referrals day after day, but also fuel your desire to consistently improve – all of which helps guarantee your success at BNI.

Even if you think your passion has gone on a permanent vacation, don’t despair.

Use these guidelines to pump up your passion and fuel your sixty second presentation; you may find that your passion pays back with referrals and revenue over the coming months.

  1. Take true pride in what you are offering If you don’t feel good about your service offering, you can’t expect members to feel good about it. Showing honest enthusiasm for your product or service helps everyone feel more connected with you.

Often, your presentation can gain credibility if you can use your own offerings – tell members how your own business or personal life ehas been transformed.

Alternatively, collect real life, educating and well written testimonials. These will not only help members understand more about your business, but will also remind them of your value and the number of people you have helped.

  2. Let your passion fully show! Enthusiasm is contagious, and when yours rubs off on members, you may get referrals as a result.

Why not record your 60 seconds, then analyse your performance? Do you look as though you really believe in your product and that you are excited about sharing it? Infuse your voice, gestures and facial expressions with enthusiasm. Spice up the language of your presentation to grab and keep the listeners’ attention. By studying relevant international speakers, you can find out how to make your own presentations more compelling and use them as an outlet for your selling passion.

Chances are, the more you let your passion show, the more you’ll feel and the more you’ll succeed.

  3. Rekindle the passion regularly. You can’t expect your enthusiasm to remain strong indefinitely. Like a battery, you need to recharge it occasionally.

Watch out for slumps, negative reactions and other influences that can put your passion on the back burner. When you have a demotivating week, turn up the volume on your positive self-talk and refuse to let the problem get the best of you at a meeting. Set goals and review them often as a reminder of the rewards for passion and persistence.

Outside of BNI, leisure time is important to help you maintain passion for your work, so make time to spend with family and friends to avoid burnout.

One member who is passionate about his service offering, and has had real success with it at BNI is Diego Saez Ibarzabal, Architect and Lighting Designer and member of BNI Positively Wellington. He’s the inspiration for the theme of this week’s nugget. A strong belief in his service offering has led to recent media coverage for him and great results and connections within his chapter.
